With less than a month until another school year comes to an end, summer break is just around the corner. Summer time for us is about spending a much needed break away from school, doing whatever we want and enjoying the beautiful weather; it’s weird to think that teachers also have an entire summer of non-school related activities.
You might be wondering, what do teachers even do over the summer? With that being said, we asked a few teachers around school to find out what they’ll be up to this summer break.
As expected, many teachers expressed their excitement about going to the beach. Ms. Alexopoulos will be traveling to Florida this summer, and enjoying the nice weather at her condo in New Hampshire.
Next, we have Ms. Sunbury, who has an exciting summer ahead of her. She’s getting married! She’ll be heading to California shortly after for her honeymoon in Napa, then visiting San Francisco. In addition to that, she’ll be taking a class at Central Connecticut State University, while still enjoying the nice weather on hikes and visiting her family in Jersey Shore. Ms. Sunbury wastes no time over the summer!
Mr. Bayek also expressed his excitement for the beach. But just like the students, he was excited to not have school-related obligations over the summer. “I feel like since I’m in school all year, I really enjoy to stay in and get projects done I wouldn’t be able to during the year,” he explained. Mr. Bayek plans to enjoy spending time with his wife and kids, whether it’s at the beach or in his home.
We all know how hard our teachers work over the course of the school year, and now we can put our imagination to rest when trying to figure out just what exactly they will be doing this summer.
