On June 4th at 5 pm WHS is holding their annual AP Art show to demonstrate the hard work of the AP art students. This event will take place at WHS in the art wing of the school, during this event you can not only enjoy amazing artwork, but homemade refreshments as well.
The students of Ms. Hass' period 6 Ap art class have been working on their art work since the beginning of the school year and have worked very hard to supply the annual art show with amazing artwork. A month before the show students were expected to create 24 pieces to be put on display, 12 are concentration pieces and the rest are breadth.
If you did not already know breadth and concentration are art terms to describe a group of artwork. Breadth is a freestyle section where students are able to create whatever type of art piece they want with no limitation. It is in this section that students use a wide array of canvases, textures and different sizing to create new innovative art. A concentration section students must follow a theme that must be present in all 12 pieces. For example, if your theme is flowers, the flowers must be present in all 12 concentration pieces. However concentrations cannot just be simple as flowers or animals, they must have a deeper meaning to inspire conversation amongst the viewers viewing the art.
In the WHS art show the concentrations range from death to life, from sexuality to politics and everything in between. Although some of the pieces might be mature for high school the esthetic of the art will blow your mind away.
So if you are interested to see what your fellow WHS students have been up to this entire year come support them by coming to the AP ARt Show they have titled He He Ha Haas. If you still are not convinced take a look at a quick preview at the art show below. However, if you cannot make it the art show will be up until the last day of finals week.
