    1. Put yourself out there!
It is important to understand that people won’t always come to you. You have to find your extrinsic side and pull it out to make new friends. Message the person first!

    2.  Don’t Be Afraid to Be Yourself
You are all trying to find yourself, you can’t be afraid to be yourself. Everyone is trying to find a roommate just like you. Let the person know what you like to do, your hobbies, what you love and hate. Even if it’s the longest Imessage ever with everything about yourself, do it! It’s better to know more about the person then nothing!

    3. Write Down Questions:
I know playing 20 questions is a throwback to middle school but when finding a finding a roommate it’s actually really helpful. Don’t be afraid to ask questions even the uncomfortable ones. Here is a list of all the things I asked my roommate:
  1. What time do you normally wake up/go to bed?
  2. Are you pretty clean or pretty messy?
  3. How often do you clean?
  4. What do you do on weekends?
  5. How do you feel about partying?
  6. When do you normally do homework?
  7. Generally happy and peppy or calm?
  8. Would you want to come party with me?
  9. Do you consider yourself like social and outgoing?
  10. Would you join clubs?
  11. Would you be okay with a lot of decoration?
  12. When do you normally do homework?
  13. What kind of music do you like?
  14. Would you be okay listening to different types?
  15. Do you like the room cold or hot?
  16. Would you rather be in the room or out and about?
  17. Do you mind sleeping with TV on?
  18. What are your favorite colors?

    4. Facetime!
There is amazing technology nowadays that allows you to Facetime so you can see each other when you're not together. It is really helpful because although texting is nice to read each other's messages it is not like talking to each other or seeing the other person’s face. If you can it would be best to try and schedule a date to see each other in person.

    5. Continue to search!
It is okay if your search for a roommate fails the first time it is hard to find someone you like enough to room with for a whole year. Especially when through our entire education we have been told what to think, when to speak, when to go to our next class and even when to pee. It is hard to think for ourselves and make all these decisions., Your search to find a roommate might fail a few times but it will workout in the end.
