Wethersfield High School Soccer Alumni- Where Are They Now?

Justin Jensen:
Justin Jensen, sophomore at Eastern Connecticut State University, has done Wethersfield High School proud. Jensen was captain of the WHS conference title team in 2014. He brought the skills developed at WHS and Oakwood Academy to ECSU, scoring six goals in his two year career and having eight assists. Jensen is known at Eastern for his speed and his hat trick against Ramapo in his freshman year.

Danny Griffin: Danny Griffin, Providence soccer player, graduated from WHS in 2016. Although he didn't play on the WHS team, Griffin was a well-known Oakwood forward. He is currently a freshman at Providence and has scored four goals over the season so far and received the “Big East Freshman of The Week” title as well as was selected to the U.S. National Soccer U-19 training camp.



Christopher Shimwell: Christopher Shimwell, a WHS Alumn, is a freshman at ECSU alongside Justin Jensen. Shimwell was a defender and captain for the WHS soccer team. He received the All-State and three time All-Conference titles by his senior year. Unfortunately, he suffered a concussion mid-season which didn’t allow him much play time. However, he had gotten plenty in the beginning of the season. He has now made his return back to the field and adds great strength to the defence of the team.

Jimmy Slaton: Jimmy Slayton left the WHS soccer team one year ago moving on to University of Hartford as their goalkeeper. Slayton was a key part to the success of the Wethersfield Team. He led the team his senior year with a 13-2-1 record and received the All-American award. Slayton has also grown to be an influential player on UHA’s soccer team, already with thirty-one saves in the season. UHA’s record is currently 4-6-3.
