It’s the end of the year, which means it’s time to rank the top albums of 2025. This list is not based on global charts; it was constructed partly from a Google Form sent to WHS English classes and partly from our own editorial opinions. Whether you agree or disagree with our final selections, we hope you enjoy exploring the music that defined the year.

“DeBí TiRAr Mas FOtos” — Bad Bunny
This album is a standout project that represents the island of Puerto Rico and its rich culture. Many of the songs incorporate traditional salsa, bomba, and plena rhythms. Listening to this album evokes the feeling of driving along the coast at night. It offers a variety of vibes, from tracks that make you want to dance at a club to more relaxed, atmospheric songs. — Cailynn Rodriguez ’26

“The Art of Loving” — Olivia Dean
“The Art of Loving” is Olivia Dean’s second album and has been a smashing success. It contains a blend of R&B, neo-soul, and pop. Released in September 2025, the album is a deeply personal yet relatable exploration of romantic, platonic, and self-love. It earns the No. 4 spot on our list due to its critical acclaim and commercial success, with many of its singles becoming major hits. — Ava Ramsey ’26

“$ome $ex.y $ongs 4 U” — Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR
This collaboration stands out as one of the top albums of 2025, perfectly capturing the late-night, chill vibe for which both artists are known. The album is full of smooth beats, slow melodies, and emotional lyrics focusing on love and complicated relationships. It is the perfect soundtrack for a late-night drive. — Rosie Thigpen ’26

“Cosa Nuestra” — Rauw Alejandro
This album features a unique mixture of bachata, salsa, bolero, and Latin soul. It includes impressive guest features from Romeo Santos, Bad Bunny, and Pharrell Williams. A highlight is the track “Tu con el,” which offers a relaxed energy compared to the album's more modern dance tracks. Its lack of repetition and high-quality features earn it the No. 2 spot on our list. — Cailynn Rodriguez ’26

“SOS Deluxe: LANA” — SZA
“SOS Deluxe: LANA” is an expansion of SZA’s 2022 album “SOS.” However, it earns a top spot on this list as a standalone experience focused on self-acceptance and healing. While the original “SOS” had a raw, chaotic energy centered on heartbreak, this new release reflects personal growth. It is not just an addition but a powerful continuation of SZA’s story. — Ava Ramsey ’26

“I’m the Problem” — Morgan Wallen
Released May 16, 2025, “I’m the Problem” has become one of Morgan Wallen's three best-selling albums. Popular tracks include “What I Want,” featuring Tate McRae, and “I’m a Little Crazy.” Wallen performed many of these songs during his sold-out One Night At A Time World Tour. — Mariyah Gonzalez ’26

“The Last Wun” — Gunna
This was Gunna's final release under the YSL record label, showcasing his growth and legacy. The melodic trap album is layered with lyrics that reflect on his career and features artists like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Offset. It is a project that many fans have enjoyed for its depth and consistency. — Cailynn Rodriguez ’26

“Hearts Sold Separately” — Mariah the Scientist
“Hearts Sold Separately” reached many young listeners this year with its relatable stories of heartbreak and love. Released Aug. 22, 2025, the album has gained significant traction on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Mariah the Scientist has become a major topic in the music industry, with many of her recent concerts selling out. — Kennedi White '26

“Hurry Up Tomorrow” — The Weeknd
“Hurry Up Tomorrow” represents a turning point as Abel Tesfaye prepares to retire his stage name, The Weeknd. The album tells an emotional story about ending an old life to start a new one, blending R&B with synth-pop. He explores diverse sounds, such as Brazilian funk on the track “Sao Paulo.” It was a definitive highlight of the year. — Cailynn Rodriguez ’26

“The Leaks” — Lil Baby
This album is a long-awaited collection of previously leaked songs. It reflects Lil Baby’s journey and his self-made status, featuring artists like Playboi Carti, Lil Yachty, and G Herbo. Primarily a hip-hop and rap project, “The Leaks” earned its place on this list by revitalizing the artist's career and exciting his fan base. — Cailynn Rodriguez ’26
